Water Proofing
Leaks in a foundation can become a major problem if not treated. Continual water damage will accrue and can eventually lead to other foundational complications. In addition, a homeowner should be concerned with mould buildup from the moisture and other property damage.
Often we find that water proofing repairs pop up as an emergency needing to be handled as soon as possible.
How easy is it to fix water leaks in the foundation?
If left untreated water leaks can lead to major damage. Fortunately, we have the tools and knowledge to re-establish a seal in the foundation to keep water out.
We typically approach the problem from the inside of the house right at the moisture entry point. If there is a crack allowing water in, one of the best ways to seal it is to drill small ports and inject poly eurothane into them around the leak point. After epoxying the crack the source of water is typically controlled.
Another common step we take for consistent interior leaks is to install an interior drain line often called a “mirror drain” around the base of the wall inside the house. This is better than a drain line outside the house because it is more isolated from interference. This drain line acts like your own personal moat to keep any water that may enter your house in a controlled environment.
For excessive leaking we install a sump pump to help keep the “mirror drain lines” from overflowing. In extreme flooding cases where there are power outage concerns we can even connect an additional backup power supply to keep the pump running even during a blackout.
If a house isn’t having any basement leaking but has a crawlspace, we will install a crawlspace sump pump to help take care of excess moisture.
